In reading this this new article on Slate which is entitled What Exactly Has J.D. Salinger Been Writing for the Last 45 Years? (And will he please let us read it?) I was reminded of another article on NPR about a guy from Wisonconsin who during the 60’s made a pilgrimage to New Hampshire to try to track down his literary hero.

In what seems like a scene from Catcher In The Rye he knocks on Salinger’s front door and when it starts raining Salinger says “You better come inside”. The two of them trade a few sparse sentences, a hand shake, and then he went on his way back to Wisconsin.
